Is reading the Bible more one of your 2013 resolutions?

If it is, we have some things for you to think about.

Lots of people find a reading plan the key to keeping them on track. Others want to journal or follow devotional reflections as they read. Crossway has collected seven resources that may start you on the right foot.

But remember, just reading the Bible isn’t enough. Reflect on Richard Dahlstrom’s caution: “The danger of saying: ‘I just do what the Bible says…'” and consider trying a completely different kind of reading plan that focuses on your personal transformation.

This post is for adults and pertains to devotions, bible reading and study.

When it’s hard being single.

Even if you aren’t single, we hope you’ll spend time with all of today’s resources. The first is an honest reflection from Lore Ferguson entitled “Sleeping Alone.” Remember how different other people’s lives are from your own.

When your single status shows no sign of change, it’s easy to give up hope. But in “Is Hoping a Waste of Time?” Ashley Boyer reminds us of where our true hope lies– and to take it one day at at time.

Last for today is spoken word art on waiting. You know what we mean… “I will wait for you” by Jannette:

This post is for adults of all ages reflecting on singleness. It provides reflection questions, empathy, and inspiration to stay faithful to God through all things.

Being a Parent who Prays

Prayer: Mother and DaughterThe theme this week is on prayer. Specifically, the praying life of parents for their kids.

The theme this week is on prayer. Specifically, the praying life of parents for their kids.

Start with this honest piece by Eugene Cho. The title says it all: “When a parent cries for their child and comes to the admission that they can’t fix everything.”

Then, be challenged by this reminder: “If You Are Not Praying for Your Children,” who is?

And for an idea on what to pray, visit Erin Davis’ post “Practical ways to pray for your Kiddos.”

This post is for parents of children who desire to pray more.

Sunday Follow-Up #2

This post from Mark Altrogge builds on Sunday’s message, “The Son Born Immanuel” so nicely that we couldn’t resist sharing a second Sunday resource.

When instability is all around you, remember these 13 promises from God. Are there other verses that help you stand firm in faith?

This post is a follow-up to the Sunday morning message at Christ Community Church. It provides a resource on Scripture reading and trusting God.
